What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a site stores on your device so it can recognise the browser on a later visit. We also use related technologies such as pixels and local storage. This policy covers all of them and uses the word cookie for the lot.
How we categorise them

Nothing outside the strictly necessary category is set until you accept it on the banner.

Each provider publishes its own privacy notice describing what it does with the data it receives. If we add or remove a tool, this table changes with it.
How long they last
Session cookies disappear when you close the browser. Persistent cookies last from a few days to 13 months, which is the longest life we allow on this site. Your consent record is kept for 12 months, after which the banner asks you again.
Changing your mind
Use the cookie preferences control in the corner of any page to change or withdraw your choice at any time. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though blocking the strictly necessary ones will break parts of the site. We honour Global Privacy Control signals sent by your browser.
Do not track
Browsers send Do Not Track signals inconsistently and there is no agreed standard for responding to them, so we do not act on them. We do act on Global Privacy Control, which is a defined standard.
